Tour itinerary
Day 1: Fes to Midelt
Your tour will begin with a pickup from your Fes lodging. You will begin your journey towards the Sahara Desert, passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains. You’ll stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, a Berber town known for its cedar forests and Barbary macaques. You will continue to Midelt and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 2: Midelt to Merzouga
You will continue your journey to the desert town of Merzouga after breakfast. You will drive through the Ziz Valley, a beautiful palm oasis, and stop in Erfoud, Morocco’s fossil capital. You will then travel to Merzouga for lunch before embarking on a camel trek through the Sahara Desert to your desert camp. You’ll spend the night in the camp, listening to traditional music, eating delicious food, and relaxing under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert Tour
You’ll get up early to catch the spectacular sunrise over the dunes. You will have the entire day to explore the desert after breakfast. You’ll go to a Gnawa village and learn about their music and culture. You will also visit the Tissardmine oasis and the nearby Khamlia village, where you will hear traditional Saharan music performed. You’ll return to your camp in the evening for dinner and another night under the stars.
Day 4: Merzouga to Dades
After breakfast, you will depart Merzouga for the Dades Valley. You will make a stop in Rissani, the ancient capital of the Alawite dynasty, to visit the local souk and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif. You will then proceed to the Todra Gorge, a beautiful canyon with 400-meter-high walls. In the Dades Valley, you will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5: Dades to Marrakech
On the last day of your tour, you will travel to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. The Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular filming location, will be your first stop. You will then continue to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon. The evening is free for you to explore the city’s bustling markets, sample local cuisine, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of this famous city.
