6 days desert tour from Casablanca

Day 1: Casablanca to Fes via Rabat.

Our Morocco trip will begin either at your hotel or at Casablanca International Airport. Our tour will begin in Casablanca with a visit to Africa’s greatest mosque, Hassan II. After that, we’ll drive to Fes via Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its four royal capitals, where we’ll see major sights including the Hassan Tower, Chellah, and Oudaya Kasbah. We’ll have some free time for lunch at a place to be determined. In the afternoon, we’ll get on the highway and go straight to Fes, Morocco’s spiritual capital. We’ll arrive in Fes in the evening for supper and an overnight stay at a traditional Riad or hotel in the center of the historic medina.

Day 2: Fes local guided trip.

After breakfast, you’ll start on a tour of Morocco’s most historically and culturally important city. At Fes, also known as Morocco’s spiritual capital, you’ll see the medina, or ancient city, with its stunning architecture. Our guided tour will take you to the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), the Dar El Makhzen or Royal Palace with its stunning mosaic architecture and golden doors, the renowned Chaouwara Tanneries, the city’s largest leather workshop dating back to the 11th century, and the Kairaouine Mosque, one of the world’s oldest universities and an old school of Islamic learning (although non-Muslims are not allowed to enter, you can still appreciate the mosque courtyard from the gates). We’ll also see the Najjarine Marble Fountain and Al-Attarine Madrassa, a religious school with stunning Islamic architecture, as well as the Bou Inania Medersa, one of Fes’ most attractive theological institutions.

Before continuing your investigation of the medina’s streets and marketplaces, you’ll get the opportunity to eat a Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we’ll take you to a vantage point with a breathtaking view of Fes El-enormous Bali’s medina. You’ll return to the same Riad in the medina for supper and an overnight stay in the evening.

Day 3: Fes to Merzouga desert.

We’ll leave Fes after breakfast and go via the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first destination will be in Ifrane, often known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” We’ll then go to the Forest of Cedar near Azrou to see Barbary macaques. Afterwards we’ll continue on to Midelt, a town famous for its apples, where you’ll have some free time to have lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll go to the Sahara desert, passing across the Tizi N’talghoumte pass (1907m) and tiny Berber communities. We’ll also visit the lovely Ziz Valley, which is located near Errachidia. Following that, we’ll carry on to Merzouga through Aoufous and Erfoud, arriving in about two hours at the magical area of sand dunes, Erg-Chebbi. You’ll have supper and sleep at a local hotel or Riad.

Day 4: Merzouga desert tour.

We’ll start our trip of the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes after breakfast. Our voyage will take us to a number of intriguing locations, including Merzouga Lake (which may or may not always be full of water), where we may see a variety of species, including ducks and flamingos, particularly in the spring. After that, we’ll go to the hamlet of Khamliya, where you may listen to Gnawa, a traditional African music sung by natives from black Africa. After that, we’ll continue our off-road desert adventure by exploring the dark desert beyond the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. We’ll also see an abandoned town where mineral fossils were previously collected before driving to see a nomadic Berber family and learn about their way of life.

We’ll have a fantastic lunch at a local restaurant once we return to Khamliya. In the afternoon, you’ll go on a Camel Trekking Journey to our desert camp across the beautiful orange-colored sand dunes. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime event as you feed your spirit while watching the glorious sunset from the center of the dunes. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be provided at the camp, where you may listen to music and play in the sand dunes under the stars.

Day 5: Merzouga to Dades via Todra Gorges.

We recommend getting up early after seeing the dawn and having breakfast and a shower before leaving Merzouga village. You may either ride a camel or drive to Rissani town, where we will visit the renowned and traditional market, which is the largest in the region. It is best to go to Rissani on Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays when the souk is open and people from the desert region come to shop. Afterwards we’ll continue on our way to Tinghir, stopping at the Tafilalt Oasis to examine the old irrigation system. After that, we will go to Tinjdad town, where you will have free time for lunch. After that, we will travel to Tinghir to visit the Todra Valley and stroll through the Todra Gorge, which is noted for its orange towering cliffs and is popular among climbers. Our day will conclude in the verdant valley of Boumalne Dades, where we will eat supper and spend overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 6: Dades to Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.

We will leave after breakfast for Ait Benhaddou Kasbah through the Land of Flowers and the Road of Thousands of Kasbahs. We will next go to Ouarzazate, dubbed as “Hollywood of Africa,” where we will stop to photograph Kasbah Taourirte and visit the famed Atlas Studios. After that, we will go to our next stop, the old Kasbah of Ait-Benhaddou, a fortified walled city situated on the caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara. Six Kasbahs and a few houses are hidden behind the mud walls. Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia are two films that include Ait Benhaddou.
After our excursion to the Kasbah, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. We will continue our travel to Marrakech through the High Atlas Passes in the afternoon. We will stop along the route to take in the breathtaking vistas of the Atlas Mountains and the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260m). We will arrive in Marrakech in the evening and leave you off at your hotel, bringing the 6-day Morocco trip from Casablanca to Marrakech, as well as our services, to a close.
